More ways managers can positively connect to the team

In this blog post, Marc Accetta explores more ways on how managers can positively connect to the rest of their teams.

Lend a helping hand. It’s a huge deal for many employees, especially new ones if they know a manager has their back. Assuring the team of assistance when needed is a huge confidence booster. However, Marc Accetta cautions managers to be mindful with the amount of help they can offer. Sometimes, offering too much may cause dependency, which is counterproductive.

Choose good words. When conversing with subordinates, what a manager says is as important as anything else. They must remember that not everyone thinks like they do, and what may be harmless to them might be offensive to people. Managers should practice using positive words, even when providing feedback.

Learn about interests. When a manager moves around an office, sometimes, it’s easy to see what their subordinates love to do during their personal time. Whether it’s going to the gym, hiking, reading books, watching films, knowing all of this allows for a more personal connection between a manager and his subordinates. More importantly, it shows the team that their leader genuinely cares enough to learn about what everyone likes.

More ways business leaders and managers can motivate people

One of Marc Accetta’s most important pieces of advice as a life coach is to always pay it forward. It’s important for people to impart any lessons they’ve learned on their path toward finding that extra motivation or rediscovering fire that they’ve lost.

For this blog, Marc Accetta shares a few more tips on how business leaders and managers can motivate employees.

Never overlook the small victories.

No matter how small a target, when a team hits it, managers and team leaders should recognize it. They should take the time to announce it to the team. It may seem trivial, but this shows employees that their efforts are not going on unrecognized.

Reassure employees that questions can be asked.

A huge factor in the demotivation of employees is fear that they’d look stupid if they asked their superiors for clarification. Managers and supervisors can help by reassuring their teams that they (managers and supervisors) are always ready to answer any questions employees might have.

Learning a few personal tidbits about the team.

While it’s true that managers and supervisors need to keep their distance to preserve a professional working relationship with employees, learning a trivial thing or two about employees can go a long way. A friendly query about one’s family brings the manager down to the level of an employee in a positive way, Marc Accetta explains.

For life coach Marc Accetta, facing and overcoming challenges can be done with the right mindset. He is a life coach who helps individuals achieve this through the seminars and workshops he conducts across the country. Visit this blog to read more about positivity.

Stopping The Behaviors That Undermine Your Goals

Reaching a long-term goal or aspiration requires both a clear vision and the right amount of motivation. You’ll need to know what you want, why you want it, and the steps you need to take to make it happen. Sounds good? Not so fast.

In truth, too many of us undermine our own efforts to attain our goals through our expectations and efforts.

One of the most common things that can deflate one’s motivation is excess visualization. Visualizing your plans does play a key role in driving you forward by providing a clear goal to plan around. Fixating on the end rather, however, may consume too much of your energy, leaving little to make aspirations into reality.

Material compensations can be very motivating things for many people, but they have their limits. Meeting compensation requirements that become too steep can really bum you out when you always fall short of them. Indeed, the desire to meet these basic requirements may even cause you to attempt to cheat the system, which would defeat both the intention and goals of the reward system.

Having a backup plan can alleviate some of the discomfort caused by uncertainties, especially if the efforts to see your ambitions through are not always enough. Put too much effort in backups, however, and you risk undermining both the scope of your original goals and the motivation to see them through. Relying too much on smaller fallback ideas can prevent you from being confident enough to pursue bigger ones.

Celebrating self-improvement month with a focus on boosting job performance

September is self-improvement month and there’s no better time to review just how much one has accomplished since the beginning of the year. People often make New Year’s resolutions but it is common for many to fall short or lose steam along the way. With a few months to go till the year ends, instead of giving up entirely, it is better to adopt a stance that insists that there is still some time to complete some of the goals set in January.

With little time to spare, it is best to focus on some aspects in life that matter. One’s job career is a good aspect to focus on as people spend much of their life at work. As some of these suggestions will show, a little can go a long way in improving one’s job performance:

First, make it a point to always arrive early. Resisting the urge to hit the snooze button every morning pays off as getting to work earlier than others gives workers some quiet, interruption-free time to start their day right.

Second is to let go of the urge to multitask. By focusing on one task at a time, people can do better work, accomplish more, and feel less stressed at the end of the day after they’ve struck off everything in their daily to-do list.

Third, improve on communication. Many hassles and misunderstandings at the workplace can easily be avoided by listening and asking the right questions. Focus on improving communication with others and help improve the team’s synergy to get more things done right.

Finally, remember to find balance. Work is not everything there is to life so learning to limit one’s daily workload is vital to avoid burning out.
